Vamonos pal Norte was a collaboration led by author, Catalina Sanchez. I was approached to illustrate the cover of the book and invited to photograph a series capturing stories from the author's childhood in Santa Maria, Coyotepec, Oaxaca and Santa Cruz Papalutla, Oaxaca back in the 1970s. The entire project is a celebration of one of many indigenous communities still present in Mexico today and an ode to those who left their home in Oaxaca to pursue the American dream.
